Our first CD has just been launched

almahabba cdDuring our 8th year in the Musical world of Arabic music, AL MAHABBA (Love in the Greek), we wanted to share with you all the way of travel. Passing from deserts and channels of Nile of Egypt, streets of Tunisia, from full perfumes markets of Syria, as the fishermen of pearls of P.Gulf, we make you our fellow-traveler, by means of the first CD of group.

The musics and the songs that we have selected, contain the most important names of composers and interpreters of Arabic Music.

In the enclosure, you will find a rich booklet, with information on the Arabic music, biographical elements of composers and singers, photographs, as well as the verses of songs.

We would like to address our hottest thanks in Haig Yazdjian, who without second thought undertook the production of present CD. With his significant experience in arabic music, Haig supported the recording of this particular musical material, at the best way. We thank him for his precious guidance. We thank also sound engineer Giorgos Fragkelis, which heard us carefully, participated actively in recordings and with very patience dealt with these musical pieces.

Also, we would like to thank Nikos Xidakis, who prefaces the CD with a poetic text.

We also thank Vasilis Chatziiakovou, who from the first moment believed in what we made and supported our effort, Roni Bou Saba who translated for us the verses of songs from the Arabic language, as well as Maria Nikiforou, for the translations in English. Finally, we would like to thank our friend Athina Paraoylaki, who undertook our photographing, as well as Konstantina Anagnostopoulou, the graphic artist who dedicated many hours for the completion of final picture and appearance of the cd.

It is a modular piece of music, which tells the life of Constantine P. Kavafis.
A musical portrait that aims to take us to the world of the great Alexandrian poet, the charm of his poetry, the fragility of eroticism.

The individual songs constitute isolated incidents of his life, with references to her home street Rue Lepsius, to the streets of Alexandria, Istanbul, Cairo, Athens, cafes and urban living at the time, as well as to the hospital where he was admitted.

Organization and production of Prospero, in collaboration with the Athens Festival, the Embassy of Egypt, the Egyptian Cultural Center in Athens and Cairo Opera House in July 2009.
